KAN

Born in 1977, KAN is a street artist who first came to graffiti as a teenager in the early 1990s, writing on walls around Avignon. An early trip to Paris, followed by one to Los Angeles, confirmed what he already sensed — that graffiti would be a defining part of his life. It was during this period that he discovered the work of Bom.k, an encounter that proved revelatory. In 2000, he joined the collective DMV (Da Mental Vaporz) and began contributing to murals and collaborative paintings.
Since then, KAN has taken part in numerous graffiti jams and shown his work in galleries across France and internationally, always in close dialogue with his crew — currently comprising Bom.k, Iso, Jaw, Gris1, Brusk, Blo, Lek, and Sowat.
Drawing on a parallel passion for computing, video, and graphic design, KAN has developed a visual language that fuses graffiti technique with pixel art and halftone patterns — an approach he calls "neo-pointillism." The result is disarmingly simple at first glance: a field of dots that seems to pulse and hypnotize, before suddenly resolving itself into a portrait, a figure, or a landscape.
