MADAME
Trained as an actress and set designer, Madame quickly shifted her focus toward the visual arts, sculpture, painting, and gradually, collage.
Without turning her back on her initial passions, Madame uses various vintage materials (paper, wood, metal, fabric, etc.) to deconstruct historical iconography, making it speak of and to the present day. Articulating her collage work between text and image, she builds small-scale works in her studio—sorts of small three-dimensional scenes—which she then transposes into large posters to paste up in the street. The miniature theaters created in the intimacy of the studio thus transform into veritable open-air theatrical stages in the public space.
It is a journey from the intimate to the public that strongly echoes the very essence of theater, but also of representation more broadly—her own, as well as that of everyone else...
