SPEEDY GRAPHITO

Olivier Rizzo, alias Speedy Graphito, one of the pioneers of the French street art movement, left his mark on an entire generation by establishing an innovative and striking style in the early 1980s.
Speedy Graphito lives art as a life experience. He explores its different facets, never hesitating to question his own artistic identity. His styles are numerous and reveal universes where the artist, guided by his instinct, likes to lose himself in search of potential evolution. Equally at ease in public pictorial performances as in the intimacy of his studio, SG devotes himself body and soul to his passion against the urgency of passing time.
Developed around specific themes, his successive exhibitions offer constantly new and surprising propositions. His trademark is that of a free artist—a joyful and profound art, often brightly colored, in which he playfully and ironically shakes up our systems of perception. In this approach, he does not hesitate to appropriate and subvert the imagery of artistic and popular culture, thereby carrying out a quasi-systematic deciphering of our collective unconscious. He thus turns the norms and dictates of our Western cultural identity into a multitude of questions, superimposing a poetic and personal dimension onto the reality of our society.
